TRUE SERVANTS of CHRIST

2 Corinthians 4:5

King James Version

5 For we preach not ourselves,

but Christ Jesus the Lord;

and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

What does it mean to be a true servant of CHRIST?

What does it mean to truly serve others?

Here's where SPIRIT led me, through Scripture.

The true servant of CHRIST has the following characteristics:

Serving, NOT for money.

1 Peter 5:2

King James Version

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you

taking the oversight thereof,

not by constraint, but willingly

not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

NOT lording it over.

1 Peter 5:3

King James Version

3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage,

but being examples to the flock.

CLOTHED with humility.

1 Peter 5:5-6

King James Version

5 Likewise, ye younger,

submit yourselves unto the elder

Yea, all of you be subject one to another,

and be clothed with humility:

for God resisteth the proud,

and giveth grace to the humble.

6 Humble yourselves therefore

under the mighty hand of God,

that he may exalt you in due time:

CASTING all our cares upon JESUS.

1 Peter 5:7

King James Version

7 Casting all your care upon him;

for he careth for you.

NOT walking in craftiness.

2 Corinthians 4:2

King James Version

2 But have renounced

the hidden things of dishonesty,

not walking in craftiness,

nor handling the word of God deceitfully;

but by manifestation of the truth

commending ourselves to every man's conscience

in the sight of God.

SPEAKING of GOD's GLORY, in JESUS.

2 Corinthians 4:6

King James Version

6 For God, who commanded the light

to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts,

to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God

in the face of Jesus Christ.

ATTRIBUTING excellency of power only to GOD.

2 Corinthians 4:7

King James Version

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,

that the excellency of the power may be of God,

and not of us.

NOT despairing.

2 Corinthians 4:8

King James Version

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;

we are perplexed, but not in despair;

NOT destroyed.

2 Corinthians 4:9

King James Version

9 Persecuted, but not forsaken;

cast down, but not destroyed;

HAVING the same SPIRIT of FAITH.

2 Corinthians 4:13-14

King James Version

13 We having the same spirit of faith,

according as it is written,

I believed, and therefore have I spoken;

we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus

shall raise up us also by Jesus,

and shall present us with you.

NOT fainting.

2 Corinthians 4:16

King James Version

16 For which cause we faint not;

but though our outward man perish,

yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
