The reliable KJV

 1 John 2:27

King James Version

27 But the anointing

which ye have received of him

abideth in you,

and ye need not that any man teach you:

but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things,

and is truth, and is no lie,

and even as it hath taught you,

ye shall abide in him.

When GOD made me born again over five years ago, I committed myself to learn the words of JESUS, EXACTLY as He DELIVERED it.

I was not about to study a Bible, with text missing.

On 19 August 2021, I even wrote this:

"Which BIBLE translation to read?

Before becoming born again, I didn't know.

SOON as GOD made me born again, it was easy.

He led me to KING JAMES VERSION (KJV) right away.

Fortunately, I dove right in.

For I was to know -- nearly 24 months after -- that it happened to be a difficult to understand version.

Many people get put off by the seeming archaic language.

Truth be told?

I had no problem with it.

I relish the grace, beauty, and precision of KJV."

-- WHICH Bible TRANSLATION to READ?

Today, I knew I was right in sticking to KJV.

As if to support my findings, the HOLY SPIRIT led me to a video today.

Which showed missing verses from other Bible versions.

In Matthew's gospel --

KJV stated:

Matthew 17:21

King James Version

21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out

but by prayer and fasting.

With NIV, the verse was nowhere to be found.

It did have a "footnote".

Footnotes

Matthew 17:21 Some manuscripts include here words similar to Mark 9:29.

In Mark's gospel --

KJV states:

Mark 9:29

King James Version

29 And he said unto them,

This kind can come forth by nothing,

but by prayer and fasting.

NIV states:

Mark 9:29

New International Version

29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.

In the Matthew example, NIV didn't include the 21st verse.

In the Mark example, NIV took out the word, "fasting".

If you know anything about spiritual warfare, you'd know "fasting" was important.

Apart from the fact JESUS included "fasting" in His commands.

The context of those two gospels involved the inability of the LORD's disciples to cast out a devil from a young boy:

Matthew 17:15-21

King James Version

15 Lord, have mercy on my son:

for he is lunatick, and sore vexed:

for ofttimes he falleth into the fire,

and oft into the water.

16 And I brought him to thy disciples,

and they could not cure him.

17 Then Jesus answered and said,

O faithless and perverse generation,

how long shall I be with you?

how long shall I suffer you?

bring him hither to me.

18 And Jesus rebuked the devil;

and he departed out of him:

and the child was cured from that very hour.

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart,

and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20 And Jesus said unto them,

Because of your unbelief:

for verily I say unto you,

If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed,

ye shall say unto this mountain,

Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove;

and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out

but by prayer and fasting.

Mark 9:17-29

King James Version

17 And one of the multitude answered and said,

Master, I have brought unto thee my son,

which hath a dumb spirit;

18 And wheresoever he taketh him,

he teareth him: and he foameth,

and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away:

and I spake to thy disciples

that they should cast him out;

and they could not.

19 He answereth him, and saith,

O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you?

how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

20 And they brought him unto him:

and when he saw him,

straightway the spirit tare him;

and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21 And he asked his father,

How long is it ago since this came unto him?

And he said, Of a child.

22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire,

and into the waters, to destroy him:

but if thou canst do any thing,

have compassion on us, and help us.

23 Jesus said unto him,

If thou canst believe,

all things are possible to him that believeth.

24 And straightway the father of the child cried out,

and said with tears,

Lord, I believe;

help thou mine unbelief.

25 When Jesus saw

that the people came running together,

he rebuked the foul spirit,

saying unto him,

Thou dumb and deaf spirit,

I charge thee,

come out of him,

and enter no more into him.

26 And the spirit cried,

and rent him sore,

and came out of him:

and he was as one dead;

insomuch that many said, He is dead.

27 But Jesus took him by the hand,

and lifted him up;

and he arose.

28 And when he was come into the house,

his disciples asked him privately,

Why could not we cast him out?

29 And he said unto them,

This kind can come forth by nothing,

but by prayer and fasting.

JESUS was EXPLICIT in His command:

Casting out "this kind" of demon

can only be done by "prayer and fasting".

Why would NIV leave such an important facet out?

Prophet Daniel knew how important "fasting" was.

Read through the spiritual battle he, and the TWO mighty angels, had to go through.

For which his 21 days of fasting helped:

Daniel 10:3

King James Version

3 I ate no pleasant bread,

neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth,

neither did I anoint myself at all,

till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

Daniel 10:4-6

King James Version

4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month,

as I was by the side of the great river,

which is Hiddekel;

5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked,

and behold a certain man clothed in linen,

whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:

6 His body also was like the beryl,

and his face as the appearance of lightning,

and his eyes as lamps of fire,

and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass,

and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

Daniel 10:7-8

King James Version

7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision:

for the men that were with me saw not the vision;

but a great quaking fell upon them,

so that they fled to hide themselves.

8 Therefore I was left alone,

and saw this great vision,

and there remained no strength in me:

for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption,

and I retained no strength.

Daniel 10:9-10

King James Version

9 Yet heard I the voice of his words:

and when I heard the voice of his words,

then was I in a deep sleep on my face,

and my face toward the ground.

10 And, behold,

an hand touched me,

which set me upon my knees

and upon the palms of my hands.

Daniel 10:11

King James Version

11 And he said unto me, O Daniel,

a man greatly beloved,

understand the words that I speak unto thee,

and stand upright:

for unto thee am I now sent.

And when he had spoken this word unto me,

I stood trembling.

Daniel 10:12-13

King James Version

12 Then said he unto me,

Fear not, Daniel:

for from the first day

that thou didst set thine heart to understand,

and to chasten thyself before thy God,

thy words were heard,

and I am come for thy words.

13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia

withstood me one and twenty days:

but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes,

came to help me;

and I remained there

with the kings of Persia.

We know "fasting" -- apart from belief, and prayer -- are important.

So much so, SPIRIT made me create a blog on it on 15 November 2022:

On FASTING

DISTRACTIONS of LIFE

Mark 4:19

King James Version

19 And the cares of this world,

and the deceitfulness of riches,

and the lusts of other things entering in,

choke the word,

and it becometh unfruitful.

The seed of GOD's WORD is constantly sown among people.

But how many listen?

How many care?

Are people aware at all, we are falling into a pit of eternal fire?

In this world, GOD's WORD is being choked through:

1. The "cares of this world".

2. "Deceitfulness of riches".

3. The "lusts of other things entering in".

These Bible versions explain more about these three things.

Mark 4:19

Amplified Bible

19 but the worries and cares of the world [the distractions of this age with its worldly pleasures], and the deceitfulness [and the false security or glamour] of wealth [or fame], and the passionate desires for all the other things creep in and choke out the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Mark 4:19

Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

19 Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.

Mark 4:19

Common English Bible

19 but the worries of this life, the false appeal of wealth, and the desire for more things break in and choke the word, and it bears no fruit.

Mark 4:19

Complete Jewish Bible

19 but the worries of the world, the deceitful glamor of wealth and all the other kinds of desires push in and choke the message; so that it produces nothing.

Mark 4:19

Contemporary English Version

19 But they start worrying about the needs of this life. They are fooled by the desire to get rich and to have all kinds of other things. So the message gets choked out, and they never produce anything.

Mark 4:19

Easy-to-Read Version

19 but their lives become full of other things: the worries of this life, the love of money, and everything else they want. This keeps the teaching from growing, and it does not produce a crop[a] in their lives.

Mark 4:19

Expanded Bible

19 but the worries of this ·life [world; age], the ·temptation [deceitfulness; seduction] of wealth, and ·many other evil desires [desires for other things] ·keep the teaching from growing and producing fruit in their lives [L come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful].

Mark 4:19

GOD’S WORD Translation

19 but the worries of life, the deceitful pleasures of riches, and the desires for other things take over. They choke the word so that it can’t produce anything.

Mark 4:19

Good News Translation

19 but the worries about this life, the love for riches, and all other kinds of desires crowd in and choke the message, and they don't bear fruit.

Mark 4:19

Holman Christian Standard Bible

19 but the worries of this age, the seduction[a] of wealth, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Mark 4:19

International Children’s Bible

19 But then other things come into their lives: worries, the love of money, and wanting all kinds of other things. These things stop the teaching from growing. So that teaching does not produce fruit[a] in their lives.

Mark 4:19

J.B. Phillips New Testament

These are the people who hear the message, but the worries of this world and the false glamour of riches and all sorts of other ambitions creep in and choke the life out of what they have heard, and it produces no crop in their lives.

Mark 4:19

Living Bible

19 but all too quickly the attractions of this world and the delights of wealth, and the search for success and lure of nice things come in and crowd out God’s message from their hearts, so that no crop is produced.

Mark 4:19

The Message

18-19 “The seed cast in the weeds represents the ones who hear the kingdom news but are overwhelmed with worries about all the things they have to do and all the things they want to get. The stress strangles what they heard, and nothing comes of it.

Mark 4:19

New American Bible (Revised Edition)

19 but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the word, and it bears no fruit.

Mark 4:19

New Catholic Bible

Mark 4:19

New Living Translation

19 but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.

Markos 4:19

The SIMPLE ones

Proverbs 1:22

King James Version

22 How long,

ye simple ones,

will ye love simplicity?

and the scorners delight in their scorning,

and fools hate knowledge?

I love using King James Version of the Bible.

But I knew there was something more to the phrase, "simple ones".

And "simplicity".

True enough, other Bible versions confirmed it.

Proverbs 1:22

Amplified Bible

22

“How long, O naive ones [you who are easily misled], will you love being simple-minded and undiscerning?

How long will scoffers [who ridicule and deride] delight in scoffing,

How long will fools [who obstinately mock truth] hate knowledge?
