JESUS and SPIRIT

Acts 10:38

King James Version

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth

with the Holy Ghost and with power

who went about doing good,

and healing all that were oppressed of the devil;

for God was with him.

How did the HOLY SPIRIT manifest Himself in JESUS?

What was JESUS able to do because of SPIRIT?

How did people react to His power?

First, we need to know this:

(We highlighted in red, proof of SPIRIT's presence.)

Matthew 1:18-20

King James Version

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:

When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph,

before they came together,

she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph her husband,

being a just man,

and not willing to make her a public example,

was minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things,

behold,

the angel of the Lord appeared unto him

in a dream, saying,

Joseph, thou son of David,

fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:

for that which is conceived in her

is of the Holy Ghost.

Mary was "found with child of the Holy ghost".

JESUS is "of the Holy Ghost".

Thus, JESUS is of the SPIRIT.

Is it any wonder SPIRIT's power in JESUS?

Many verses, and miracles, attest to that.

As in this chapter from Luke:

Luke 4:1-4

King James Version

4 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost

returned from Jordan,

and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil.

And in those days he did eat nothing:

and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3 And the devil said unto him,

If thou be the Son of God,

command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying,

It is written,

That man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word of God.

Luke 4:5-8

King James Version

5 And the devil,

taking him up into an high mountain,

shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world

in a moment of time.

6 And the devil said unto him,

All this power will I give thee,

and the glory of them:

for that is delivered unto me;

and to whomsoever I will I give it.

7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him,

Get thee behind me, Satan:

for it is written,

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,

and him only shalt thou serve.

Luke 4:9-13

King James Version

9 And he brought him to Jerusalem,

and set him on a pinnacle of the temple,

and said unto him,

If thou be the Son of God,

cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written,

He shall give his angels charge over thee,

to keep thee:

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up,

lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him,

It is said,

Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation,

he departed from him for a season.

Luke 4:14-16

King James Version

14 And Jesus returned

in the power of the Spirit into Galilee

and there went out a fame of him

through all the region round about.

15 And he taught in their synagogues,

being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth,

where he had been brought up:

and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue

on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Luke 4:17-21

King James Version

17 And there was delivered unto him

the book of the prophet Esaias.

And when he had opened the book,

he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he hath anointed me

to preach the gospel to the poor;

he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,

to preach deliverance to the captives,

and recovering of sight to the blind,

to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book,

and he gave it again to the minister,

and sat down.

And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue

were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them,

This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Luke 4:28-32

King James Version

28 And all they in the synagogue,

when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city,

and led him unto the brow of the hill

whereon their city was built,

that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them

went his way,

31 And came down to Capernaum,

a city of Galilee,

and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine:

for his word was with power.

Luke 4:33-34

King James Version

33 And in the synagogue there was a man,

which had a spirit of an unclean devil,

and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Saying, Let us alone;

what have we to do with thee,

thou Jesus of Nazareth?

art thou come to destroy us?

I know thee who thou art;

the Holy One of God.

Luke 4:35-37

King James Version

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying,

Hold thy peace, and come out of him

And when the devil had thrown him in the midst,

he came out of him, and hurt him not.

36 And they were all amazed,

and spake among themselves, saying,

What a word is this!

for with authority and power he commandeth

the unclean spirits, and they come out.

37 And the fame of him went out

into every place of the country round about.

Luke 4:38-39

King James Version

38 And he arose out of the synagogue,

and entered into Simon's house.

And Simon's wife's mother was taken

with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 And he stood over her,

and rebuked the fever;

and it left her:

and immediately she arose

and ministered unto them.

Luke 4:40

King James Version

40 Now when the sun was setting,

all they that had any sick with divers diseases

brought them unto him;

and he laid his hands on every one of them,

and healed them.

Luke 4:41

King James Version

41 And devils also came out of many,

crying out, and saying,

Thou art Christ the Son of God

And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak:

for they knew that he was Christ.

Luke 4:42-44

King James Version

42 And when it was day,

he departed and went into a desert place:

and the people sought him,

and came unto him,

and stayed him,

that he should not depart from them.

43 And he said unto them,

I must preach the kingdom of God

to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

Have we THANKED GOD lately?

Psalm 118:24

King James Version

24 This is the day which the Lord hath made;

we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Have we thanked the LORD lately?

Have we paid attention to the blessings?

Have we even considered them blessings?

Have we seen, through the eyes of the HOLY SPIRIT?

Through SPIRIT, as born again, we'd be aware of this fact:

John 15:5

King James Version

5 I am the vine,

ye are the branches

He that abideth in me,

and I in him,

the same bringeth forth much fruit:

for without me ye can do nothing.

Without JESUS, we "can do nothing".

Through God's love and mercy, through the cross of Jesus, believers have been saved from their sins.

Through JESUS, we have been healed.

Remember the story of JESUS, and the 10 lepers?

Luke 17:11-19

King James Version

11 And it came to pass,

as he went to Jerusalem,

that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village,

there met him ten men that were lepers,

which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices,

and said,

Jesus,

Master,

have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them,

he said unto them,

Go shew yourselves unto the priests

And it came to pass,

that,

as they went,

they were cleansed.

15 And one of them,

when he saw that he was healed,

turned back,

and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet,

giving him thanks:

and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said,

Were there not ten cleansed?

but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God,

save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him,

Arise,

go thy way:

thy faith hath made thee whole.

Only one turned back, and glorified God.

And he was a Samaritan.

Jews and Samaritans don't mix.

But that didn't stop Jesus from being with them.

Or healing them.

And yet this Samaritan thanked the Lord.

The rest went about their lives, forgetting God.

That's how most of us are.

In our joy, we forget who gave that joy.

We forget to give thanks to the SOURCE of all JOY.

We bite the Hand that feeds the WORD.

It's time to give thanks to the LORD.

Colossians 3:17

King James Version

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,

do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,

giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

It's time to honor Him.

It's time to believe in Him.

It's time to glorify GOD, through JESUS.

GOD's DELIGHT

Matthew 19:14

King James Version

14 But Jesus said,

Suffer little children,

and forbid them not,

to come unto me: for of such

is the kingdom of heaven.

What pleases God?

What delights Him?

SPIRIT helped me find these today.

GOD delighted in His creation.

Genesis 1:31

King James Version

31 And God saw every thing

that he had made,

and, behold,

it was very good

And the evening and the morning

were the sixth day.

GOD delighted in His SON.

Matthew 3:17

King James Version

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying,

This is my beloved Son,

in whom I am well pleased.

GOD delights in children.

Matthew 18:4-5

King James Version

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself

as this little child, the same is greatest

in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive

one such little child in my name

receiveth me.

GOD delights in those who repent.

Ezekiel 18:23

King James Version

23 Have I any pleasure at all

that the wicked should die?

saith the Lord God:

and not that he should return

from his ways, and live?

GOD delights in those that fear Him.

Psalm 147:11

King James Version

11 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him,

in those that hope in his mercy.

GOD delights in those that believe in Him.

Hebrews 11:6

King James Version

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him:

for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,

and that he is a rewarder of them

that diligently seek him.

GOD delights in those that seek Him.

Hosea 6:6

King James Version

6 For I desired mercy,

and not sacrifice;

and the knowledge of God

more than burnt offerings.

GOD delights in those who continually praise Him.

Hebrews 13:15-16

King James Version

15 By him therefore let us offer

the sacrifice of praise to God continually

that is,

the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

16 But to do good and to communicate forget not:

for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

GOD delights in giving lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness.

Jeremiah 9:23

King James Version

24 But let him that glorieth glory in this,

that he understandeth and knoweth me,

that I am the Lord which exercise

lovingkindness,

judgment,

and righteousness,

in the earth:

for in these things I delight,

saith the Lord.

GOD delights in grateful people.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

King James Version

18 In every thing give thanks:

for this is the will of God

in Christ Jesus

concerning you.

GOD delights in the prosperity* of His servant.

Psalm 35:27

King James Version

27 Let them shout for joy,

and be glad,

that favour my righteous cause:

yea, let them say continually,

Let the Lord be magnified,

which hath pleasure

in the prosperity* of his servant.

*NOTE: Depending which Bible version you read, prosperity is translated as either that, or welfare, well-being, or peace.

I wrote this post, that I may find comfort in personal grief.

A previous post spoke of finding strength, THROUGH the JOY of the LORD.

Nehemiah 8:10

King James Version

10 Then he said unto them,

Go your way,

eat the fat,

and drink the sweet,

and send portions unto them

for whom nothing is prepared:

for this day is holy unto our Lord:

neither be ye sorry;

for the joy of the Lord

is your strength.

I'm merely exploring what that joy means, in this new post.

By the GRACE of GOD, I now have a better understanding of it.

Getting to the CORE of things

 John 8:32

King James Version

32 And ye shall know the truth,

and the truth shall make you free.

The world tells me one thing.

But I've always sought the CORE of things.

Why are things the way they are?

Who causes it all?

What causes it all?

What gives true happiness?

Why is there chaos in the world?

What work is worth doing?

I have always believed one thing --

You have to get to the CORE of things.

To heal sickness, you have to get to the core of the disease.

To fix something in society, you have to get to the core of corruption.

To repair relationships, you have to get to the core of discord.

The reality may be painful, but it needs to get looked into.

So, on and on I'd search for the "core" of things.

I wanted to know the ROOT cause of EVERYTHING.

Tall order that might be, I was on it.

I felt only then could we get things right.

Otherwise, we'd be merely using a "band-aid" approach.

Nothing would be healed, fixed, or repaired.

I did create a blog, for my "investigation".

Of course, my research started with self.

I NEEDED to FIND the CORE of my BEING -- first.

Thus, a soul search blog on 24 November 2018:

"Archaeologist of the Soul"

It has grown to many more blogs since.

Surely, GOD took note of that persistence.

In the course of my "investigation", I came upon many things:

There was always a missing piece.

I didn't know what work to do anymore.

I was so ashamed of my sins.

I wanted real change in my life.

I wanted to know absolute truth.

I wanted to believe in something certain.

And once I found that, I'd share with you.

That was all GOD was waiting for.

A humbled me.

A waiting me.

A watching me.

A surrendered me.

After five months of waiting, GOD made me born again.

He turned me to Bible prophecy right away.

Of course, that meant I looked to Scripture.

Upon encountering Scripture, I realized something.

I was so hungry for GOD's truth.

I devoured Scripture like there was no tomorrow.

And learned there might not be.

Four months after being made born again, GOD led me to His Son.

JESUS took over and led me to this one, particular verse:

Matthew 24:40

King James Version

40 Then shall two be in the field;

the one shall be taken, and the other left.

So, that was what the Rapture was all about!

That, at any moment GOD chooses, all could be gone.

We could be sitting with a person, and one of us could be gone.

We could be working anywhere, and half the people in it would be gone.

We could be caring for our loved ones, and one of us could be gone.

Taken up to the LORD, in the clouds.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

King James Version

16 For the Lord himself

shall descend from heaven

with a shout,

with the voice of the archangel,

and with the trump of God:

and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain

shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,

to meet the Lord in the air:

and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

After being led by JESUS to those verses, I knew nothing else mattered.

But one thing.

That we get right with GOD now.

That there'd be no more rebelling.

No more ignoring His laws.

No more foolish things.

JESUS was the CORE.

JESUS was GOD's truth.

JESUS was our only salvation.

All that research, all the hits and misses, all the efforts --

All so worth it.

Galatians 6:9

King James Version

9 And let us not be weary in well doing:

for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

All these I came to know.

Only by the GRACE of GOD.

From His mercy.

From His love.

From His Son, JESUS.

From His SPIRIT.

1 Corinthians 2:10

King James Version

10 But God hath revealed them unto us

by his Spirit:

for the Spirit searcheth all things,

yea, the deep things of God.

All that tenacity bore fruit.

Never was I lost again.

Finding the CORE of your BEING is not easy.

It took my whole life.

That's many decades of search, research, and keeping on.

Of keeping the faith.

To the diligent, you will be given TRUTH.

To the faithful, it will all be revealed.

To a childlike heart, you understand better.

JESUS was all there is.

The LORD tells us Himself:

John 14:6

King James Version

6 Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way, the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.

GOD's TRUTH is so very beautiful.

It's been JESUS, all along.

I've found the CORE.

I'm home now.

I sit at JESUS' feet.

Listening each moment.

As a child would.

In complete trust.

And confidence.

Making sure we don't miss a thing.

DISEASES during the TIME of JESUS

Matthew 14:34-36

King James Version

34 And when they were gone over,

they came into the land of Gennesaret.

35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him,

they sent out into all that country round about,

and brought unto him all that were diseased;

36 And besought him

that they might only touch the hem of his garment:

and as many as touched

were made perfectly whole.

Ever wondered what diseases, or ailments, proliferated during the time of JESUS?

The HOLY SPIRIT led me to it today.

If they were not important, the Bible would not have spoken of it.

And I could not help think to myself, how times have changed.

And how strange the diseases have become, today.

In grave reflection of the times?

Let's go back into time, with apostle Luke*, looking through his eyes, for he was a physician.

Let's also find out how our LORD JESUS healed our suffering brethren.

Leprosy.

Luke 5:12-13

King James Version

12 And it came to pass,

when he was in a certain city,

behold a man full of leprosy:

who seeing Jesus fell on his face,

and besought him, saying,

Lord, if thou wilt,

thou canst make me clean.

13 And he put forth his hand,

and touched him, saying,

I will: be thou clean.

And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

Palsy.

Luke 5:18-20

King James Version

18 And, behold,

men brought in a bed a man

which was taken with a palsy:

and they sought means to bring him in,

and to lay him before him.

19 And when they could not find

by what way they might bring him in

because of the multitude,

they went upon the housetop,

and let him down through the tiling with his couch

into the midst before Jesus.

20 And when he saw their faith,

he said unto him,

Man,

thy sins are forgiven thee.

Disease of the blood.

Luke 8:43-48

King James Version

43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years,

which had spent all her living upon physicians,

neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behind him,

and touched the border of his garment:

and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus said,

Who touched me?

When all denied,

Peter and they that were with him said,

Master,

the multitude throng thee and press thee,

and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus said,

Somebody hath touched me:

for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid,

she came trembling,

and falling down before him,

she declared unto him before all the people

for what cause she had touched him,

and how she was healed immediately.

48 And he said unto her,

Daughter,

be of good comfort:

thy faith hath made thee whole;

go in peace.

Blindness.

Luke 18:35-43

King James Version

35 And it came to pass,

that as he was come nigh unto Jericho,

a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

36 And hearing the multitude pass by,

he asked what it meant.

37 And they told him,

that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

38 And he cried, saying,

Jesus,

thou son of David, have mercy on me.

39 And they which went before rebuked him,

that he should hold his peace:

but he cried so much the more

Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

40 And Jesus stood,

and commanded him to be brought unto him:

and when he was come near,

he asked him,

41 Saying,

What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee

And he said

Lord, that I may receive my sight.

42 And Jesus said unto him,

Receive thy sight:

thy faith hath saved thee.

43 And immediately he received his sight,

and followed him, glorifying God:

and all the people,

when they saw it,

gave praise unto God.

Epilepsy.

Matthew 4:24

King James Version

24 And his fame went throughout all Syria:

and they brought unto him all sick people

that were taken with divers diseases and torments,

and those which were possessed with devils,

and those which were lunatick*,

and those that had the palsy;

and he healed them.

(Note: Many Bible versions translate "lunatick" as "epilepsy".

Demon possession.

Luke 8:26-33

King James Version

26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes,

which is over against Galilee.

27 And when he went forth to land,

there met him out of the city a certain man,

which had devils long time,

and ware no clothes,

neither abode in any house,

but in the tombs.

28 When he saw Jesus,

he cried out,

and fell down before him,

and with a loud voice said

What have I to do with thee,

Jesus,

thou Son of God most high?

I beseech thee, torment me not.

29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit

to come out of the man

For oftentimes it had caught him:

and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters;

and he brake the bands,

and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

30 And Jesus asked him, saying,

What is thy name

And he said, Legion

because many devils were entered into him.

31 And they besought him

that he would not command them

to go out into the deep.

32 And there was there an herd of many swine

feeding on the mountain

and they besought him that he would suffer them

to enter into them

And he suffered them.

33 Then went the devils out of the man,

and entered into the swine:

and the herd ran violently down a steep place

into the lake, and were choked.

Huh?

Demon possession is a disease?

2 Corinthians 7:1

King James Version

7 Having therefore these promises,

dearly beloved,

let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness

of the flesh and spirit,

perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

*Luke was mentioned in this epistle:

Colossians 4:14

King James Version

14 Luke,

the beloved physician

and Demas,

greet you.
