Matthew 14:34-36
King James Version
34 And when they were gone over,
they came into the land of Gennesaret.
35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him,
they sent out into all that country round about,
and brought unto him all that were diseased;
36 And besought him
that they might only touch the hem of his garment:
and as many as touched
were made perfectly whole.
Ever wondered what diseases, or ailments, proliferated during the time of JESUS?
The HOLY SPIRIT led me to it today.
If they were not important, the Bible would not have spoken of it.
And I could not help think to myself, how times have changed.
And how strange the diseases have become, today.
In grave reflection of the times?
Let's go back into time, with apostle Luke*, looking through his eyes, for he was a physician.
Let's also find out how our LORD JESUS healed our suffering brethren.
Leprosy.
Luke 5:12-13
King James Version
12 And it came to pass,
when he was in a certain city,
behold a man full of leprosy:
who seeing Jesus fell on his face,
and besought him, saying,
Lord, if thou wilt,
thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand,
and touched him, saying,
I will: be thou clean.
And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
Palsy.
Luke 5:18-20
King James Version
18 And, behold,
men brought in a bed a man
which was taken with a palsy:
and they sought means to bring him in,
and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find
by what way they might bring him in
because of the multitude,
they went upon the housetop,
and let him down through the tiling with his couch
into the midst before Jesus.
20 And when he saw their faith,
he said unto him,
Man,
thy sins are forgiven thee.
Disease of the blood.
Luke 8:43-48
King James Version
43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years,
which had spent all her living upon physicians,
neither could be healed of any,
44 Came behind him,
and touched the border of his garment:
and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
45 And Jesus said,
Who touched me?
When all denied,
Peter and they that were with him said,
Master,
the multitude throng thee and press thee,
and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 And Jesus said,
Somebody hath touched me:
for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid,
she came trembling,
and falling down before him,
she declared unto him before all the people
for what cause she had touched him,
and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her,
Daughter,
be of good comfort:
thy faith hath made thee whole;
go in peace.
Blindness.
Luke 18:35-43
King James Version
35 And it came to pass,
that as he was come nigh unto Jericho,
a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
36 And hearing the multitude pass by,
he asked what it meant.
37 And they told him,
that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
38 And he cried, saying,
Jesus,
thou son of David, have mercy on me.
39 And they which went before rebuked him,
that he should hold his peace:
but he cried so much the more,
Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
40 And Jesus stood,
and commanded him to be brought unto him:
and when he was come near,
he asked him,
41 Saying,
What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee?
And he said,
Lord, that I may receive my sight.
42 And Jesus said unto him,
Receive thy sight:
thy faith hath saved thee.
43 And immediately he received his sight,
and followed him, glorifying God:
and all the people,
when they saw it,
gave praise unto God.
Epilepsy.
Matthew 4:24
King James Version
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria:
and they brought unto him all sick people
that were taken with divers diseases and torments,
and those which were possessed with devils,
and those which were lunatick*,
and those that had the palsy;
and he healed them.
(Note: Many Bible versions translate "lunatick" as "epilepsy".
Demon possession.
Luke 8:26-33
King James Version
26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes,
which is over against Galilee.
27 And when he went forth to land,
there met him out of the city a certain man,
which had devils long time,
and ware no clothes,
neither abode in any house,
but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus,
he cried out,
and fell down before him,
and with a loud voice said,
What have I to do with thee,
Jesus,
thou Son of God most high?
I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit
to come out of the man.
For oftentimes it had caught him:
and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters;
and he brake the bands,
and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
30 And Jesus asked him, saying,
What is thy name?
And he said, Legion:
because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him
that he would not command them
to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine
feeding on the mountain:
and they besought him that he would suffer them
to enter into them.
And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man,
and entered into the swine:
and the herd ran violently down a steep place
into the lake, and were choked.
Huh?
Demon possession is a disease?
2 Corinthians 7:1
King James Version
7 Having therefore these promises,
dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness
of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
*Luke was mentioned in this epistle:
Colossians 4:14
King James Version
14 Luke,
the beloved physician,
and Demas,
greet you.
