Isaiah 53:3
King James Version
3 He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised,
and we esteemed him not.
Yes, there's a great gulf between rich, and poor.
What do you think happens to them, when their life on earth, is done?
The LORD JESUS has this to tell:
Luke 16:19-21
King James Version
19 There was a certain rich man,
which was clothed in purple and fine linen,
and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus,
which was laid at his gate,
full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs
which fell from the rich man's table:
moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Where do you think each went?
Luke 16:22
King James Version
22 And it came to pass,
that the beggar died,
and was carried by the angels
into Abraham's bosom:
the rich man also died,
and was buried;
A cry came from the rich man:
Luke 16:23-24
King James Version
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes,
being in torments,
and seeth Abraham afar off,
and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said,
Father Abraham,
have mercy on me,
and send Lazarus,
that he may dip the tip of his finger in water,
and cool my tongue;
for I am tormented in this flame.
But Father Abraham reminded him:
Luke 16:25-26
King James Version
25 But Abraham said,
Son,
remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things,
and likewise Lazarus evil things:
but now he is comforted,
and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this,
between us and you there is a great gulf fixed:
so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot;
neither can they pass to us,
that would come from thence.
This time, an appeal came from the rich man.
Luke 16:27-28
King James Version
27 Then he said,
I pray thee therefore,
father,
that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren;
that he may testify unto them,
lest they also come into this place of torment.
Father Abraham answered:
Luke 16:29
King James Version
29 Abraham saith unto him,
They have Moses and the prophets;
let them hear them.
But the rich man was insistent.
Luke 16:30
King James Version
30 And he said,
Nay,
father Abraham:
but if one went unto them from the dead,
they will repent.
In finality, Father Abraham declared:
Luke 16:31
King James Version
31 And he said unto him,
If they hear not Moses and the prophets,
neither will they be persuaded,
though one rose from the dead.
Or what about that time a rich, young man asked Jesus what else he needed to do, considering he followed the Lord's commandments.
Leave it to the LORD to be pure, perfect, and precise:
Matthew 19:21-24
King James Version
21 Jesus said unto him,
If thou wilt be perfect,
go and sell that thou hast,
and give to the poor,
and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:
and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying,
he went away sorrowful:
for he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples,
Verily I say unto you,
That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you,
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,
than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Now that you've heard the stand of the LORD JESUS about wealth, and how we treat our brethren, there's actually more.
And this, He calls our attention to:
Matthew 25:40-45
King James Version
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it
unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me,
ye cursed,
into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred,
and ye gave me no meat:
I was thirsty,
and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger,
and ye took me not in:
naked,
and ye clothed me not:
sick,
and in prison,
and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him,
saying,
Lord,
when saw we thee an hungred,
or athirst, or a stranger,
or naked,
or sick,
or in prison,
and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them,
saying,
Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these,
ye did it not to me.
We are to focus on things that matter most.
The LORD JESUS left us invaluable commands.
John 6:27
King James Version
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth,
but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life,
which the Son of man shall give unto you:
for him hath God the Father sealed.
Matthew 6:19-21
King James Version
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.
Mark 1:15
King James Version
15 And saying,
The time is fulfilled,
and the kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye,
and believe the gospel.
John 3:5-7
King James Version
5 Jesus answered,
Verily, verily,
I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh;
and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,
Ye must be born again.
Let us focus on JESUS alone.
For these are perilous times.
Colossians 3:1-2
King James Version
3 If ye then be risen with Christ,
seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above,
not on things on the earth.
