GET off the GREED

1 Timothy 6:9

King James Version

9 But they that will be rich

fall into temptation and a snare,

and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,

which drown men in destruction and perdition.

I am amazed at how much physical weight earth can hold.

Nature, animals, buildings, houses, cars, trucks, trains, ships, infrastructure, people, furniture, appliances, clothes, books, everyday things, and garbage.

I can imagine earth groaning at the weight and volume of stuff.

And yet, it is only by GOD's power everything is held up.

Job 26:7

King James Version

7 He stretcheth out the north

over the empty place

and hangeth the earth

upon nothing.

Many people collect things.

Many have clutter.

We all have garbage.

And yet people don't seem to have enough.

They want more, and more.

They see the Joneses with their new house, car, spouse, acquisitions, titles, and they want the same, too.

They see people who've raked in the big bucks, and they want the same.

The see people enjoying fame.

They've got to have that, too.

It's all greed, pride, lust, and jealousy.

We can't bear to be outdone.

We allow the corrupt world dictate what one ought to have, be, or do.

And if you don't come to par, you're not a success.

Mercifully, such things have never bothered me.

I've always sought ABSOLUTE truth, something I can truly believe in, and one day GOD made me born again.

Soon as the HOLY SPIRIT started teaching me Scripture, all the more I was peaceful, and content.

I was right in my heart, all along.

I've always known things of the world don't last.

They won't give you lasting happiness.

The world will always create artificial need.

People always compete with each other.

What a tiring way to live.

CHRIST never thought that way.

He came as the humblest person on earth.

Isaiah 53:2-3

King James Version

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,

and as a root out of a dry ground:

he hath no form nor comeliness;

and when we shall see him,

there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men;

a man of sorrows,

and acquainted with grief:

and we hid as it were our faces from him;

he was despised,

and we esteemed him not.

And yet:

Colossians 1:16-17

King James Version

16 For by him were all things created,

that are in heaven,

and that are in earth,

visible and invisible,

whether they be thrones,

or dominions,

or principalities,

or powers:

all things were created by him,

and for him:

17 And he is before all things,

and by him all things consist.

JESUS taught us love, humility, obedience.

He had no use for the things of the world.

He commanded us:

Matthew 6:19-21

King James Version

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,

where moth and rust doth corrupt,

and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,

and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is,

there will your heart be also.

The Bible taught us to focus on CHRIST.

Colossians 3:1-2

King James Version

3 If ye then be risen with Christ,

seek those things which are above,

where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above,

not on things on the earth.

When you have JESUS, you will be content.

When you are born again, you can only be content.

JESUS becomes the ONLY content of our hearts.
