Romans 5:8
King James Version
8 But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.
Only through the HOLY SPIRIT am I led to the verses on GOD's TRUTH.
As such, I was astounded the other day, when a well-known minister spoke about the ministry of Jesus.
This minister spoke of how the Lord's work isn't finished.
And that His apostles are still "groping".
Of course, the Lord's work is finished.
He is the ROCK, the cornerstone, the FOUNDATION of our FAITH.
Psalm 62:7
King James Version
7 In God is my salvation and my glory:
the rock of my strength,
and my refuge,
is in God.
Here are the verses, and context, which speak of God's truth:
John 19:26-30
King James Version
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother,
and the disciple standing by,
whom he loved,
he saith unto his mother,
Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple,
Behold thy mother!
And from that hour that disciple took her
unto his own home.
28 After this,
Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished,
that the scripture might be fulfilled,
saith,
I thirst.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar:
and they filled a spunge with vinegar,
and put it upon hyssop,
and put it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar,
he said,
It is finished:
and he bowed his head,
and gave up the ghost.
How can the Lord's work be not finished?
I'm no theologian, but the Spirit of God in me reacted to that blasphemy against the specific words of Jesus, before dying on the cross.
"It is finished."
Who better to know, than the Lord, when His work is finished?
Jesus did say:
Hebrews 2:14
King James Version
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers
of flesh and blood,
he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him
that had the power of death,
that is,
the devil;
It truly is "finished".
Through His Son's death, God gave us the resurrection.
Jesus had defeated death, and the devil.
