The LORD JESUS declared:
Matthew 5:17
King James Version
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law,
or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy,
but to fulfil.
Jesus really made people nervous during His time.
By being of God, He received hatred from the world.
It cost Him His life, but He prophesied it.
Whenever people challenged the Lord, He would quote from the law of Moses, and the prophets.
Here's how Jesus dealt with the deceiver, as He was presented with temptation.
Temptation 1:
Matthew 4:2-3
King James Version
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights,
he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him,
he said,
If thou be the Son of God,
command that these stones be made bread.
JESUS answered:
Matthew 4:4
King James Version
4 But he answered and said,
It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God.
Corresponding OLD TESTAMENT verse:
Deuteronomy 8:3
King James Version
3 And he humbled thee,
and suffered thee to hunger,
and fed thee with manna,
which thou knewest not,
neither did thy fathers know;
that he might make thee know
that man doth not live by bread only,
but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.
Temptation 2:
Matthew 4:5-6
King James Version
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city,
and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him,
If thou be the Son of God,
cast thyself down:
for it is written,
He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:
and in their hands they shall bear thee up,
lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
JESUS answered:
Matthew 4:7
King James Version
7 Jesus said unto him,
It is written again,
Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Corresponding OLD TESTAMENT verse:
Deuteronomy 6:16
King James Version
16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God,
as ye tempted him in Massah.
Temptation 3:
Matthew 4:8-9
King James Version
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain,
and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world,
and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him,
All these things will I give thee,
if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
JESUS answered:
Matthew 4:10
King James Version
10 Then saith Jesus unto him,
Get thee hence, Satan:
for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,
and him only shalt thou serve.
Corresponding OLD TESTAMENT verses:
Exodus 20:1-3
King James Version
20 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God,
which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 23:25
King James Version
25 And ye shall serve the Lord your God,
and he shall bless thy bread,
and thy water;
and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
Deuteronomy 6:13
King James Version
13 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God,
and serve him,
and shalt swear by his name.
1 Samuel 7:3
King James Version
3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying,
If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts,
then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you,
and prepare your hearts unto the Lord,
and serve him only:
and he will deliver you
out of the hand of the Philistines.
With regards to manna, JESUS said:
John 6:31
King James Version
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert;
as it is written,
He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Corresponding OLD TESTAMENT verse:
Exodus 16:4
King James Version
4 Then said the Lord unto Moses,
Behold,
I will rain bread from heaven for you;
and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day,
that I may prove them,
whether they will walk in my law,
or no.
Scripture has all the proof of the DIVINITY of GOD.
There are many more examples in the Bible.
How many really care to know, or listen?
We must -- at each, and every moment.
For the LORD is our GOD.
Without Him, we can do nothing.
We must abide by His word.
John 15:5
King James Version
5 I am the vine,
ye are the branches:
He that abideth in me,
and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without me ye can do nothing.
