Jeremiah 2:5

5 Thus saith the Lord,
What iniquity have your fathers found in me,
that they are gone far from me,
and have walked after vanity,
and are become vain?
What is vanity, but obsession with self?
When you're a true follower of CHRIST -- a born again, and Bible believer -- your only FOCUS is JESUS.
Only God's WORD compels your attention.
Your will, is the Lord's will.
Your mind, is the Lord's mind.
Your heart, is the Lord's heart.
You do not care how fashionable you are, how rich you are, if you have the latest gadget, if your car is cooler than your neighbor's, or if you're loved by the world.
As born again -- a TRUE follower of JESUS -- you only care that the HOLY SPIRIT guides you, teaches you, and inspires you.
The things of the world have no interest for you.
Very strange, but that's the way it is for a TRUE born again.
You've seen past the illusion.
The deception.
The false fronts.
The desperation.
The constant cry for attention.
As born again, your heart is firmly focused on the soon return of JESUS, on a day GOD appoints.
Your whole life, and work, revolves around that.
You acknowledge that all power comes from God alone.
But what does the world offer?
Anything BUT Jesus.
His true believers are marginalized.
The false followers feel elitist.
You will be thrown this way, and that, with doctrines of demons.
You will be mired in misery, and confusion.
You will be taught, according to the world's agenda.
You will be taught to love self, and not God.
In total contrast to what John the Baptist said about Jesus:

but I must decrease.
Over a year ago, as the covid crisis hit, I wrote some observations on a 30 April 2020 post.
I review it now, and the observations remain the same.
Many people are still obsessed with self.
The rich are still obsessed with riches, too.
The power-hungry continue to be power-hungry.
The world continues to follow the wrong spirit.
Pray for GOD's TRUTH, and watch what He'll do.
You will definitely be tasked to become born again, to believe in His Son, JESUS, and to be taught by the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD.
After which?
Never again will you walk in darkness.
The LIGHT will have come upon you.
John 8:12

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them,
saying,
I am the light of the world:
he that followeth me
shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.
Never again will there be an obsession with self.
Only GOD will matter.
And our prayer will now be:

37 Turn away mine eyes
from beholding vanity;
and quicken thou me
in thy way.
