TITLES for JERUSALEM

2 Chronicles 6:6

King James Version

6 But I have chosen Jerusalem,

that my name might be there;

and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

It's good to know what Jerusalem stands for.

What better source, than Scripture?

A "crown of glory"; a "royal diadem"

Isaiah 62:3

King James Version

3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory

in the hand of the Lord,

and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

A "praise in the earth"

Isaiah 62:7

King James Version

7 And give him no rest,

till he establish

and till he make Jerusalem

a praise in the earth.

The "throne of the Lord"

Jeremiah 3:17

King James Version

17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem

the throne of the Lord

and all the nations shall be gathered unto it,

to the name of the Lord,

to Jerusalem:

neither shall they walk any more

after the imagination of their evil heart.

A "city of truth"

Zechariah 8:3

King James Version

3 Thus saith the Lord;

I am returned unto Zion,

and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem

and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth

and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain.

A "cup of trembling"

Zechariah 12:2

King James Version

2 Behold

I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling

unto all the people round about

when they shall be in the siege

both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

A "burdensome stone"

Zechariah 12:3

King James Version

3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem

a burdensome stone for all people

all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces,

though all the people of the earth

be gathered together against it.

A "city not forsaken"

Isaiah 62:12

King James Version

12 And they shall call them,

The holy people,

The redeemed of the Lord:

and thou shalt be called,

Sought out

A city not forsaken.

"Hephzibah" and "Beulah"

Isaiah 62:4

King James Version

4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken;

neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate

but thou shalt be called Hephzibah,

and thy land Beulah

for the Lord delighteth in thee,

and thy land shall be married.

Which "killest the prophets"

Luke 13:34

King James Version

34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,

which killest the prophets

and stonest them that are sent unto thee

how often would I have gathered thy children together,

as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings,

and ye would not!

"Desolate"

Luke 13:35

King James Version

35 Behold,

your house is left unto you desolate

and verily I say unto you,

Ye shall not see me,

until the time come when ye shall say,

Blessed is he that cometh

in the name of the Lord.
