the things of the Spirit of God:

neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.
How can we tell if we are of GOD?
How can we tell if His SPIRIT is in us?
How can we identify the SPIRIT of GOD?
First, let's do the reverse.
What is that, which is NOT of GOD?
1 John 4:3

3 And every spirit that confesseth not
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is not of God:
and this is that spirit of antichrist,
whereof ye have heard that it should come;
and even now already is it in the world.
In contrast, here's the SPIRIT of GOD:

Every spirit that confesseth

Why is it important to be able to differentiate that which is of God?
And that which is not of God?

because many false prophets
are gone out into the world.
The SPIRIT of GOD hears those who are of GOD:

Hereby know we the spirit of truth,
and the spirit of error.
The SPIRIT of GOD is the SPIRIT of TRUTH.
The LORD JESUS declared:
John 14:17

17 Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him:
but ye know him;
for he dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.
How do we know the SPIRIT of GOD is IN us?
Scripture tells us.
1 John 4:4

4 Ye are of God,
little children,
and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you,
than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:7

7 Beloved,
let us love one another:
for love is of God;
and every one that loveth
is born of God,
and knoweth God.

If we love one another,
God dwelleth in us,
and his love is perfected in us.

that we dwell in him,
